Nassau, Bahamas

Established as Charles Town in 1666 and renamed Nassau in 1695 early settlers are reputed to have made a living from shipwrecks. Going so far as to set up lights to attract unwary captains onto the surrounding reefs. As an early home to English privateers (pirates to some) the city played host to Edward Teach (Blackbeard), Calico Jack Rackham, Anne Bonney and Mary Read to name a few. Find out more about pirates by visiting the Pirate Museum, a brief walk from the cruise terminal. Visit the renowned Atlantis resort on Paradise Island, a short ferry or taxi ride from the ship. If shopping is more your thing, take a walk down Bay St. Of course there is golf, snorkeling, scuba, and much more.
